This Sleeping Ladies Big Cuff by Carina Hardy is an ambitious figurative sculpture built directly around the wrist. Multiple sterling-silver Venus figures recline in shifting poses, their forms hand-carved over an extended process that gives the composition extraordinary physical detail. At the center, one solid 18K gold Venus creates a warm focal point against the cooler silver bodies. The inner side reveals an intimate detail intended largely for the wearer: the sculpted backs of the reclining women. Hand-carved from wax over one hundred days and limited to fifty pieces, the cuff celebrates the human body with humor, sensuality and exceptional craftsmanship rather than idealized perfection.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
