This 18K Stretching Venus by Carina Hardy transforms the human body into the architecture of the ring itself. A softly modelled Venus stretches backward, her arched form encircling the finger until hands and toes meet, eliminating the distinction between figure and band. The composition is intimate, playful and distinctly sculptural, inviting the piece to be viewed from every angle rather than only from above. Cast in recycled 18k yellow gold and made in a limited series of forty, it belongs as much to the language of miniature figurative sculpture as conventional jewellery. The warmth of gold further emphasises the body’s softly rounded contours.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
