This 18K Mother by Carina Hardy gives the idea of family a remarkably tactile physical form. A substantial recycled-gold band splits open at the top to reveal a closely gathered line of pink pearls, each nestled beside the next like members of a family held within one protective structure. The contrast between weighty gold and softly luminous pearls creates both visual and emotional warmth without resorting to literal maternal imagery. Part of a limited series of one hundred, the ring is handcrafted in Bali and finished with responsibly sourced pearls set in Bangkok. It is symbolic jewellery made through form rather than inscription.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
