This 18K Birth of Venus by Carina Hardy translates Botticelli’s sea-born goddess into a richly sculptural piece of recycled 18K gold. Venus rises within an organic water-drop frame, while three radiant diamonds introduce concentrated flashes of light in place of the pearls used in the demi-fine interpretation. The combination of Renaissance imagery and elemental water allows the pendant to move between art history and mythology without feeling literal. On an 18-inch solid-gold Cardano chain, the work sits close enough to the body to retain intimacy despite its visual complexity. Limited to ten, it possesses the rarity and detail of a miniature collectible sculpture.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
