This Drops Open Ring by Carina Hardy explores balance through two materials that never fully close around the finger. Rhodium-plated recycled silver creates the primary sculptural structure, while latticed droplets of recycled 18k yellow gold sit at each open end, their warmth contrasting sharply with the cool silver forms. The gap becomes an intentional part of the architecture, allowing the finger to move freely through the piece while a sculptural underside maintains tactile contact with the skin. Bold enough for the middle or index finger, it feels less like a conventional ring than a small wearable study in expansion, opposition and equilibrium.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
