This Venus de Milo by Carina Hardy reimagines the celebrated ancient sculpture inside an organic water-drop form, bringing classical art into intimate contact with the body. A single white topaz punctuates the figure with light, while the reversible construction encourages the pendant to be experienced from more than one viewpoint. Hardy preserves the Venus de Milo’s armless state and draped form, treating the passage of time as part of the sculpture’s identity rather than something to restore. The result is thoughtful and tactile rather than simply referential. Suspended from an 18-inch Cardano chain, the piece feels like a small wearable artifact, balancing beauty, history and contemporary craftsmanship.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
