These Chasm Studs by Carina Hardy resemble fragments of volcanic debris rather than conventional polished jewellery. Each recycled 925 sterling-silver stud is sharp, jagged and cratered, with small fissures cut into the rough surface and precisely embedded with responsibly sourced brown and black diamonds. The stones do not decorate the exterior so much as occupy the breaks within it, creating a compelling contrast between raw geological texture and meticulous setting. Limited to a series of 100, the tiny scale intensifies the effect, as though a larger elemental landscape has been reduced to the ear. Wear them alone to keep their irregular silhouette and dark, recessed sparkle clearly visible.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
