This Braid Ponytail Pendant by Carina Hardy renders something as intimate and familiar as braided hair in cool recycled sterling silver. Slender and elongated, the pendant preserves the visual tension of a real braid, simultaneously supple in appearance and structurally strong. Worn close to the chest on a silky snake chain, it feels almost bodily, as though a fragment of the self has been translated into metal. A braided motif continues onto the custom lobster clasp, ensuring the idea extends through every detail rather than ending at the pendant. The piece is easy to layer yet conceptually distinctive, exploring hair as a symbol of identity, continuity and human connection.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
