These 18K Pavé Elbow by Carina Hardy isolate one small but emotionally charged detail from Klimt’s The Kiss: the bent elbow that implies two arms linking in embrace. Recreated in recycled 18K yellow gold, the organically triangular stud is surrounded by responsibly sourced brown diamonds and yellow sapphires, echoing the glimmering, gold-leaf richness associated with the painting. The unusual focus turns a joint of the body into the centre of the composition, rewarding viewers who recognise the figurative reference. Limited to a series of 100, the pair feels intimate and slightly enigmatic, translating a famous image through one fragment rather than reproducing it literally.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
