These 18K Pavé Button Earrings by Carina Hardy treat the intimate act of a kiss as a richly textured miniature tableau. Crafted in recycled 18K yellow gold, the generous button form depicts two figures becoming one, their embrace emerging amid textured gold leaf and a border of responsibly sourced brown diamonds and yellow sapphires. The pavé creates warmth rather than icy brilliance, complementing the yellow gold and making the figurative scene feel almost painterly. At 1.7cm, the earrings have enough surface for the narrative to be read up close. Limited to a series of 20, they sit somewhere between portrait, jewel and wearable object.
Carina Hardy has lived between Bali and New York City her entire life. Growing up in a family of jewelers, she was encouraged to push creative limits and trust hand craftsmanship. A designer and artist, Carina roots her practice in reverence for the strength and softness of women. Carina has worked in many mediums, including plaster, inflatables, ice and metal. Together with her lover Tavish, they established Carina Hardy in 2024.
