This Sterling Silver Cross Pendant Necklace from Indonesia 'The Call' by Made Darmada is an intricate and wondrous sterling silver cross pendant. The piece is designed utilizing the Balinese jewelry styles of bun and jawan, where curved wires are interwoven with bubbles or dots. A combination of shiny and oxidized finishes serves to enhance the visual appeal of the cross, which is a beautiful embodiment of the artisan's devotion to his craft.
Made Darmada, born in Bali in 1973, carries forward the island’s centuries-old silversmithing tradition. Inspired by the values of honesty and perseverance instilled by his parents, he began learning jewelry-making at a specialized school and further refined his skills under senior artisans. Despite early struggles and limited resources, he established his own workshop, where he continues to create original designs. Each piece begins with his sketches and samples, then is brought to life with the help of his team using traditional tools and methods. His jewelry balances heritage techniques with personal creativity, embodying resilience and devotion. Now married with two children, Made dreams of passing on both his workshop and his values to the next generation, ensuring that Bali’s silversmithing artistry endures.
Handcrafted from 925 sterling silver with a combination finish, this necklace measures 20 inches in inner circumference, with a 2.4 x 1.5-inch pendant, and closes with a spring ring clasp.
