Jon Stuart Anderson is an American-born artist whose life across the US, Mexico, Venezuela, and Costa Rica shaped a unique creative vision. Raised in a family of artists, with a grandfather who was a fine jeweler and a mother who sculpted wildlife, he was immersed in artistry from childhood. Influenced by Frank Lloyd Wright’s architecture, Native American art, and Mesoamerican traditions, he began crafting with clay as a boy and later discovered his true medium: polymer clay. Since 1991, Anderson has pioneered its use in jewelry and sculpture, developing intricate, color-rich designs that stretch the limits of handcraft. From his Bali workshop, where he leads a team of 25 artisans, he transforms polymer clay into wearable art and vibrant animal sculptures. Despite personal challenges, including a life-altering illness, Anderson continues to innovate, imbuing his work with resilience, cultural echoes, and a vision of beauty that endures.
