This Wood Bead and Recycled Glass Bracelet 'The Only One' by Independent Artisans is a funky accessory that reflects resilience and creativity. Designed by Eliasu Adams, a young artist from Ghana, this bracelet combines black, green, and yellow beads to create a unique pattern. The artisan uses a durable nylon cord to hand-string each recycled glass bead, adding sese wood beads for contrast, and transforming humble materials into wearable art infused with cultural meaning.
Born in northern Ghana in 1993, this young artist discovered his passion for jewelry making during a difficult chapter of his life. After financial constraints delayed his education, he began experimenting with natural materials like calabash gourd shells, wood beads, and shea butter. What began as gifts for friends soon evolved into distinctive necklaces, bracelets, and earrings, crafted with an imaginative eye and hours of self-taught practice. Rooted in resourcefulness, his designs reflect both resilience and creativity, with inspiration drawn from nature’s forms and textures. Supported at times by family, including his cousin Lumasha, he continues to refine his craft while striving toward dreams of opening a workshop, advancing his education, and uplifting his family. His jewelry carries the spirit of perseverance, transforming humble materials into wearable art infused with cultural meaning.
Handcrafted from recycled glass beads, sese wood beads, and nylon cord, this bracelet measures 7.5 inches in length and 0.4 inches in width.
