While silver remains his foundation, he also experiments with copper, tumbaga (a pre-Hispanic gold-copper alloy), alpaca, crystals, seeds, and leather. Today, Ortiz is dedicated to creating collections that raise awareness of endangered species, combining artistry with environmental advocacy. For him, jewelry is both a cultural legacy and a call to action. Living and working in Mexico City, he trains apprentices and cultivates a new generation of artisans, ensuring the craft endures. Passionate, reflective, and deeply committed to his community, Ortiz sees each piece as a balance between trend and tradition—a way to preserve Mexico’s artistic heritage while speaking to the future.
