These 'Gunungan Vines' dangle earrings by Independent Artisans are a fantastic accessory. Designed by Ketut Darmawan, these sterling silver earrings feature two drops with "open vine motifs." The high-polish finish adds a lovely shine, and the name "Gunungan" signifies the tree of life. This piece embodies both Balinese spirit and personal resilience.
Born in Gianyar, Bali in 1976, Ketut Darmawan grew up surrounded by artisans, woodcarvers, and silversmiths. Financial limitations prevented him from attending university, but his dedication led him to silverwork, first as a student and later as a teacher guiding visitors through Balinese traditions. Today, he runs his own jewelry studio, designing alongside a team of skilled silversmiths. Inspired by Bali’s rich culture, environment, and artistry, Ketut works with silver, copper, brass, gemstones, and suede, crafting jewelry with traditional tools and modern vision. Balancing his creative journey with the responsibility of raising two children, he finds fulfillment in transforming local inspiration into timeless pieces. Through Novica, Ketut aspires to bring his designs to the global stage, offering jewelry that embodies both Balinese spirit and personal resilience.
Handcrafted in 925 sterling silver, these hook earrings have a high-polish finish and measure 1.3 inches in height by 0.5 inches in width.
