This 'Shining Coral' pendant necklace by Independent Artisans is a beautiful and elegant accessory with a touch of oceanic beauty. Designed by Oscar Figueroa Escorcia, this sterling silver necklace features a pendant crafted to resemble branches of coral. The high-polish finish gives it a shining, ethereal look. This piece embodies both precision and artistry, honoring the silversmithing traditions of Mexico.
Born in Taxco, Guerrero in 1964, this designer has dedicated more than 30 years to the art of silver jewelry, carrying forward the traditions that define his hometown as Mexico’s silversmithing capital. Inspired by the cultural richness of pre-Hispanic heritage, he began creating his own designs at the age of 19 and gradually built collections that have been exhibited across the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia. His process combines precision and artistry, from melting and alloying silver to hand-polishing each piece to a mirror finish. Guided by respect for culture, values, and the environment, he sees jewelry as both identity and innovation, a way to honor tradition while responding to the constant changes of fashion. His work has earned several awards, including first place at the Palace of Fine Arts, and he continues to create jewelry that expresses pride in Mexico and the timeless beauty of silver.
Handcrafted in 925 sterling silver, this necklace has a high-polish finish, a cable chain, and an S-hook or hook clasp. It measures 17.3 inches in length with a 1.6-inch extender, and the pendant measures 2.8 inches in length by 2 inches in width.
