These Round Cultured Pearl Dangle Earrings from Bali 'Kintamani Lanterns' by Independent Artisans are a pair of dangle earrings that resemble lanterns. Designed by Asmara Putra, they are crafted of sterling silver with intricate basket patterns. Each earring cradles a petite cultured pearl at the bottom, and the piece honors Bali's heritage while embracing contemporary creativity.
Born in Celuk in 1991, Asmara Putra is the son of renowned silversmith Wayan Asmana, from whom he inherited both skill and passion for jewelry. Surrounded by silver craftsmanship from childhood, he began learning techniques as a teenager before establishing his own workshop after earning a degree in English literature. Inspired by Bali’s traditional engraving motifs, his jewelry combines sterling silver with gemstone beads, bringing fresh detail to time-honored artistry. Though initially underestimated, Asmara turned criticism into motivation, refining his craft with perseverance until his work gained recognition. Today, he designs and creates alongside his wife and close friends, driven by a sense of responsibility as a husband and father. Guided by his father’s advice to live simply and work for the future, his jewelry reflects humility, resilience, and cultural pride, offering designs that honor Bali’s heritage while embracing contemporary creativity.
Handcrafted from .925 sterling silver and cultured freshwater pearl, these hook earrings measure 1.8 inches L x 0.8 inches W x 0.8 inches D and have a combination finish.
