Born in Heredia, Costa Rica, Katherine Vargas Zárate grew up immersed in art and craft, surrounded by painters, weavers, and sculptors in her family. Initially trained in business administration, her path shifted when her daughter’s broken earrings inspired her to create new ones from materials her mother once used. That small act blossomed into a vocation, with Katherine soon experimenting in wirework and resin to develop her own distinctive collections. Supported by her husband and motivated by her three daughters, including one with special needs, she built a family-centered workshop where dedication and love are at the heart of every piece. In 2017, her commitment was recognized with a national award for industry. Today, her jewelry reflects resilience and creativity, offering clients handcrafted designs infused with the strength of her journey and the enduring traditions of Costa Rican artistry.

Handcrafted from waxed nylon cord, resin, paper, and stainless steel, this necklace measures 15.8 inches min L to 27.5 inches max L. The pendant is 1.5 inches L x 1.3 inches W x 0.2 inches D and has a sliding knot.
