This Mexican Handcrafted Enameled Sterling Silver Stud Earrings 'Maya Chac Mool' is a unique and enigmatic accessory. Designed by Oscar Figueroa Escorcia, these petite sterling silver earrings recreate the reclining chac mool figure and are accented with black enamel. The piece, which is both identity and innovation, is a beautiful representation of the artisan's commitment to honoring tradition and his Mexican heritage.
Born in Taxco, Guerrero in 1964, this designer has dedicated more than 30 years to the art of silver jewelry, carrying forward the traditions that define his hometown as Mexico’s silversmithing capital. Inspired by the cultural richness of pre-Hispanic heritage, he began creating his own designs at the age of 19 and gradually built collections that have been exhibited across the United States, Europe, South America, and Asia. His process combines precision and artistry, from melting and alloying silver to hand-polishing each piece to a mirror finish. Guided by respect for culture, values, and the environment, he sees jewelry as both identity and innovation, a way to honor tradition while responding to the constant changes of fashion. His work has earned several awards, including first place at the Palace of Fine Arts, and he continues to create jewelry that expresses pride in Mexico and the timeless beauty of silver.
Handcrafted in Mexico with .925 sterling silver. The earrings have a diameter of 0.4 inches. They have a combination finish.
