These Mazahua Sterling Silver Earrings with Malachite 'Mazahua Wildflower' are inspired by nature and culture. Designed by Mazahua Family artisans, these sterling silver earrings depict a shy wildflower and luscious leaves, with natural malachite gemstones. The pieces, which are a reflection of heritage and identity, are a beautiful representation of the family's commitment to keeping Mazahua artistry alive for future generations.
Mexican artisan Juan Carlos Flores represents the third generation of a family dedicated to silver jewelry. Alongside relatives Dora Magdalena Rodríguez, Osvaldo Rodríguez, and Rosario Rodríguez, he preserves Mazahua traditions through handcrafted pieces inspired by nature and culture. Using granulated silver melted into sheets and wires, the family creates designs adorned with birds, flowers, and leaves, motifs also present in the traditional dress of Mazahua women. Some pieces are further enriched with semi-precious or precious stones. Though balancing creativity with market demands is challenging, the family takes pride in sharing their culture through their art. For them, each piece is more than jewelry—it is a reflection of heritage and identity. By innovating without abandoning tradition, they continue to keep Mazahua artistry alive for future generations.
Handcrafted in Mexico with .925 sterling silver and malachite. Each earring measures 1.4 inches in length and 0.6 inches in width. They have a combination finish. Natural variations in color and/or pattern are to be expected.
