This Handmade Jade Wrap Ring from Guatemala 'Odds and Ends' is a pretty and shining accessory. Designed by Victoria Zurdo, the wrap ring features a diamond cabochon and a pear-shaped gem of natural Guatemalan jade, set in a plain bezel and a rope-edged bezel. The sterling silver ring is polished to a high shine. The piece, which honors her heritage, is a beautiful representation of the artisan's values of love, resilience, and cultural preservation.
Born in Quiché in 1983 and raised in San Lucas Tolimán, this artisan discovered her passion for jewelry alongside her husband, who taught her to craft silver pieces. What began with a simple pair of earrings soon became a livelihood, sustained by perseverance and the support of her first client, her son’s pediatrician. Today, she and her husband run a workshop where they design jewelry that blends silver with jade, a stone revered by the ancient Maya as sacred and protective. Inspired by tradition, she seeks to honor her heritage while creating pieces that appeal to both locals and international visitors. Her work has been recognized by Guatemala’s Tourism Institute for its quality and artistry, and she takes pride in teaching her two sons the craft to carry on the family legacy. Each creation reflects her values of love, resilience, and cultural preservation, offering jewelry imbued with meaning and tradition.
Handcrafted in Guatemala with .925 sterling silver and jade. The ring front measures 0.6 inches in length and 0.4 inches in width. Natural stone color and variegation are expected to vary.
