This Handcrafted Natural Fiber Cuff Bracelet 'Coffee Trails' by Independent Artisans is an original creation that honors the living traditions of the Zenú people of Colombia. The cuff is covered with handwoven caña flecha fiber in dark espresso brown and ivory, with a blue polyester lining. The piece, which is a community-wide effort, carries symbolic meaning in its geometric pintas and is a beautiful representation of the artisan's culture and identity.
For centuries, the Zenú people of Colombia have cultivated and woven caña flecha, a native cane fiber integral to their culture and identity. Once used in fishing and building, the fiber evolved into the foundation of the iconic sombrero vueltiao, as well as baskets, bags, and bracelets. Crafting these pieces is a community-wide effort: the cane is dried, split into uniform strands, dyed with natural pigments, and woven into intricate braids, sometimes containing up to twenty-eight fibers. The geometric pintas that adorn each piece carry symbolic meaning, representing clans, plants, animals, and ancestral narratives. Today, the Zenú artisans pass down their knowledge through local schools, blending oral history with traditional techniques to preserve their cultural heritage. Every design honors their land, their stories, and their identity, inviting wearers to carry a piece of Colombia’s living tradition.
Handcrafted in Colombia from caña flecha fiber, PVC, and polyester, this cuff bracelet measures 7 inches in length (end to end) and 2 inches in width. Colors may vary slightly.
