This 'Golden Ganesha' Hand-Painted Gold and Blue Medallion Necklace by Independent Artisans is a stately and symbolic accessory that celebrates Hindu mythology and artistry. Designed by Neha Gopinath Pillai, who found her passion in ceramic jewelry, this necklace features three golden images of Lord Ganesha, the patron of arts and science, suspended from a central medallion. The terracotta beads are double-fired and painted in a golden tone, and the mango wood beads are painted in gold and blue to form the necklace. This piece is a beautiful blend of tradition, color, and spiritual meaning.
Fascinated by the creative freedom of clay, this artisan left a steady job to pursue ceramic jewelry full time. Entirely self-taught and mentored by a teacher with more than 20 years of experience, she has refined her craft since 2008, continually learning through seminars and exploration. In 2012, she set up her own workshop, overcoming challenges with determination and the support of family. Her designs are inspired by the world around her—from delicate leaves to mythological figures—resulting in vibrant, experimental pieces that embrace color and form. Committed to environmentally conscious practices, she envisions building a fully equipped studio that will also serve as a platform for budding artisans. For her, clay is limitless, offering the chance to blend tradition with sustainability while expressing creativity in timeless, handcrafted designs.
Handcrafted from terracotta ceramic and mango wood beads with a golden tone. The necklace is 14.3 to 20.5 inches long and 0.6 inches wide.
