These Hand Crafted Gold Accent Button Earrings 'Majapahit Shield' by Ni Wayan Astiti are earrings inspired by the legendary artistry of the Majapahit Kingdom. They are crafted by hand with sterling silver and are reminiscent of the shields worn by Majapahit warriors, centered with 22k gold-plated accents. She hopes her children will inherit her passion for the family legacy.
Born into a renowned family of gold artisans in Bali, this jewelry designer represents the fourth of seven children in a lineage steeped in ceremonial craft. Her village is celebrated as a center for gold jewelry, and in 2009 her parents were honored as “The Master’s Hands” by The Jakarta Post for their mastery. From childhood, she was encouraged with patience and support, even through mistakes, as she learned to craft gold rings, earrings, and temple ornaments used in Hindu ceremonies. Today, she collaborates with ten silversmiths, including her husband, who helps bring her designs to life. Inspired by tradition yet shaped by her own perseverance, she continues to create jewelry that embodies Balinese culture and timeless beauty. Now a mother of three, she hopes her children will inherit her passion, carrying forward a family legacy that blends faith, dedication, and artistry.
Handcrafted in 22k gold-plated sterling silver with a combination finish, these post earrings weigh 0.07 oz. They measure 0.4 inches L x 0.4 inches W x 0.2 inches D.
