This Hammer Dragonfly Art Sterling Silver Pendant Necklace 'The Hammer and the Dragonfly' by Kunio Takeda is an original necklace from the 'Organic and Inorganic' collection. A dragonfly poses on a hammer as a flower, with a hammer on its tail, connecting with human creativity. The sterling silver necklace is crafted by hand and features an intriguing harmony of contrasts in texture and finish. His jewelry carries the dual heritage of Japan and Mexico.
Born in Japan in 1948, this master silversmith has dedicated over four decades to transforming silver into sculptural expressions of identity and nature. His artistic journey began in childhood with painting and wood sculpture before leading him to Mexico, where he studied at the National Autonomous University and the National School of Fine Arts. Enchanted by Mexico’s landscapes and traditions, he fused Japanese discipline with Mexican symbolism, creating a unique artistic language in silver. His collections range from jewelry to functional objects, often accented with turquoise, opal, or jade. Inspired by flora, fauna, and cultural celebrations, his work reflects both beauty and preservation. He has exhibited widely, served as a judge at Taxco’s International Silver Fair, and even crafted a monumental silver Buddha that took three years to complete. Today, his jewelry carries the dual heritage of Japan and Mexico, celebrating nature while honoring ancestral silver traditions.
Handcrafted in sterling silver with a combination finish, this necklace weighs 0.25 oz. The Omega chain is 17.8 inches L and 1 mm W, with a lobster claw clasp. The pendant measures 1.2 inches L x 1 inch W x 0.1 inches D. It is also marked with the artist's initials or trademark.
