Born in San José in 1971, Ruth Guevara Vega has always carried a deep affinity for the arts. From childhood, she displayed a natural talent for painting, sculpture, and creative expression. In 2017, facing health challenges, she turned her lifelong passion into a livelihood, launching her own venture centered on eco-friendly design. Ruth works primarily with natural materials such as jícaro gourds, cabuya, leather, seeds, and cotton fabrics, while also transforming discarded items—glass bottles, plastics, fabrics, and paper—into jewelry and home décor. Each piece is unique, as no natural form is ever identical, and every creation reflects her love of nature’s rustic beauty. Beyond artistry, Ruth is committed to inclusivity and social impact: she leads creative workshops for children, older adults, and people with disabilities, helping them find expression and community through art. Her dream is to build a stable, environmentally conscious business that provides jobs and training opportunities while ensuring her children and grandchildren enjoy a better future.

Made in Costa Rica from calabash gourd, pinewood beads, and a polyester cord. The cord is adjustable from 16.5 to 34 inches L and 2 mm W. The pendant is 2.8 inches L x 2.7 inches W x 0.1 inches D. It weighs 0.41 oz.
