This 'Fiery Geometry' beaded pendant necklace by Independent Artisans is a majestic statement piece. Designed by Edgar Trejo, the centerpiece is a flower-like pendant crafted from tiny beads of fiery glass. A waterfall of beads dangles below the pendant, and the necklace circles the neck with a patterned strand of glass beads. This accessory is a beautiful expression of Otomi traditions and artistic creativity.
Rooted in Otomi tradition, this artisan carries forward the ancient art of painting on amate paper, a practice passed down from his father. Proud of his heritage, he transforms tree bark from wild fig, nettle, and mulberry into handmade paper following pre-Hispanic methods tied to lunar cycles. Onto this surface he paints intricate, innovative designs that balance tradition with personal creativity. For him, each work is both cultural preservation and artistic expression — a way of ensuring Otomi heritage endures for future generations. Motivated by his wife and daughters, he dreams of building a better home for his family and one day exhibiting his work in museums and galleries, sharing the depth of his culture with the world.
This necklace is crafted from glass beads. It weighs 0.13 lbs and measures 23.5 inches L by 1.4 inches W. The pendant measures 7.3 inches L by 4.9 inches W. Handcrafted, so colors, sizes, and motifs may vary slightly. Made in Mexico.
