These 'The Dangling Path' dangle earrings by Independent Artisans are a bold and elegant piece that is deeply inspired by Bali's natural beauty. Designed by artisan Made Sugi, these rectangular sterling silver earrings are accented with beautiful bubble motifs, a classic Balinese pattern. The combination of polished and oxidized finishes creates a dynamic look, reminiscent of the refreshing coastal waters of the region. These earrings are a striking statement of Balinese artistry and a beautiful way to carry a piece of the island with you.
Born in Bali in 1975, Made Sugi was raised in a community where silversmithing thrives. Inspired by her surroundings, she learned the craft after helping in her husband’s workshop, gradually moving from cleaning and shaping silver to designing her own pieces. Together, they now lead a workshop of 15 artisans who use traditional tools to create intricate designs in silver, gemstones, and pearls. Her jewelry often features classic Balinese motifs such as jawan (silver bubbles) and bun (swirls), patterns that require great precision and skill. Despite personal challenges, including an injury to her hand, Made lives by the motto “never give up.” Her creations embody Balinese culture and artistry, offering jewelry that is both meaningful and distinctive. Through her work, she hopes to keep the silversmithing tradition alive for future generations.
These hook dangle earrings are crafted from .925 sterling silver with a combination finish. They weigh 0.18 oz and measure 1.2 inches L by 0.4 inches W by 0.2 inches D. Made in Indonesia.
