Born in Antigua, Guatemala in 1963, Jorge Alfredo López García began his creative journey in a typesetting workshop before discovering stone carving, a craft that soon became his life’s passion. Since 1992, he has worked with glass, marble, jade, wood, and ceramic, developing a distinctive style rooted in Maya motifs and symbolism. His first commissions were business logos, but he found deeper fulfillment in creating original works that celebrate Guatemala’s cultural heritage. Today, López García’s designs are recognized both locally and internationally, admired for their authenticity and artistry. Beyond craftsmanship, he aspires to expand his workshop, invest in new equipment, and create opportunities for his community. Each piece is made with care, blending cultural pride with contemporary artistry. His creations invite wearers and collectors to experience the enduring spirit of Guatemala’s traditions.
