These 'Jungle Pyramids' by Independent Artisans are a beautiful pair of pyramid earrings. Designed by Zandra Lorena Sajbin, they highlight the unique beauty of black Guatemalan jade in a triangular shape. The gem is set in sterling silver, making this a piece that honors heritage while appealing to a contemporary aesthetic.
Born in Quiché in 1983 and raised in San Lucas Tolimán, this artisan discovered her passion for jewelry alongside her husband, who taught her to craft silver pieces. What began with a simple pair of earrings soon became a livelihood, sustained by perseverance and the support of her first client, her son’s pediatrician. Today, she and her husband run a workshop where they design jewelry that blends silver with jade, a stone revered by the ancient Maya as sacred and protective. Inspired by tradition, she seeks to honor her heritage while creating pieces that appeal to both locals and international visitors. Her work has been recognized by Guatemala’s Tourism Institute for its quality and artistry, and she takes pride in teaching her two sons the craft to carry on the family legacy. Each creation reflects her values of love, resilience, and cultural preservation, offering jewelry imbued with meaning and tradition.
These earrings are crafted from sterling silver and jade with a high-polish finish. They feature kidney earwires and measure 1.5 inches L x 0.6 inches W x 0.2 inches D.
