Founded in 1996 by anthropologist Susana Valadez, the Huichol Center for Cultural Survival and Traditional Arts is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of the Wixárika, or Huichol, people of Mexico. Based in Jalisco, the nonprofit supports one of the country’s oldest Indigenous communities through language education, ethnographic documentation, and the continuation of ancestral crafts. The Wixárika are renowned for safeguarding their spiritual identity, maintaining traditions that date back thousands of years, including ceremonial arts and beadwork. Through initiatives like Creative Hands, the center trains artisans in both traditional and contemporary practices, promoting economic self-sufficiency while sustaining cultural expression. Their mission extends beyond craft, encompassing education, healthcare, and community support, creating lasting bridges between past and future. This necklace is crafted from glass beads. It features a sliding knot that is adjustable between 20.5 and 25 inches long. The pendant measures 2.8 inches L x 2.2 inches W x 0.4 inches D.
