These 'Night Emperors' by Independent Artisans are a sublime pair of bat-themed dangle earrings. Crafted in Bali by Dewa Arimbawa, the artisan uses advanced metalworking techniques to create this mysterious design, adding swirl motifs at the center. The accessory symbolizes transition and new beginnings, and is a beautiful blend of heritage and innovation.
Born in 1983 into a family of teachers and traditional artists, this Balinese jeweler carries forward a cultural heritage rooted in detail and sincerity. His grandfather, a dancer and painter, instilled in him an eye for design and the importance of creating with heart. Though he first worked aboard cruise ships to support his family, the discipline and empathy he developed during those years now enrich his craft. Together with his wife, he creates jewelry inspired by traditional Balinese architecture and weaving patterns, blending them with modern, elegant forms. In his workshop, silver, copper, and gemstones are shaped into distinctive designs that reflect Bali’s artistic spirit. Recognized for his talent, he was chosen to represent Bali in the 2017 Australia Short Course Awards and received the International Business Readiness Award for jewelry design. For him, each piece is both heritage and innovation—an offering of beauty shaped by perseverance.
These earrings are crafted from 925 sterling silver with a combination finish. They feature hook earrings and measure 1.7 inches L x 0.8 inches W x 0.1 inches D.
