These 'Friendly Bamboo' by Independent Artisans are a unique pair of dangle earrings. Designed by Kadek Suar Dwipayana, two faceted ovals of blue topaz are cradled by openwork sterling silver swirl patterns and framed by sterling bamboo. This piece honors Bali’s silversmithing heritage while reflecting the artisan's own creativity and curiosity.
Born in 1991 in a Balinese village of silversmiths, Kadek Suar Dwipayana carries forward a tradition that spans generations. Both of his parents were artisans, and as a child he often watched his father craft new designs. After earning a degree in computer studies, Kadek chose to devote himself to silverwork, beginning with basic techniques before moving into more intricate processes. Today he works from home with three family members, creating jewelry that is unique and imaginative. For Kadek, the joy of his craft lies in challenging himself to realize designs that surpass even his original vision. His pieces honor Bali’s silversmithing heritage while reflecting his own creativity and curiosity. Balancing tradition with innovation, his jewelry embodies a personal and cultural legacy meant to be shared worldwide.
These earrings are crafted from 925 sterling silver and blue topaz with a combination finish. They feature hook earrings and measure 1.4 inches L x 0.6 inches W x 0.1 inches D.
