These 'Traditional Ways' by Independent Artisans are a lovely pair of citrine earrings with a touch of vintage flair. Designed by Dewi Putera, these sterling silver dangle earrings feature ornate traditional Balinese motifs like bun (curled wires) and jawan (silver granules). The piece is a beautiful celebration of Balinese culture and the unique beauty of handmade silver jewelry.
Born in Gianyar, Bali, Dewi Putera — whose given name is Putu Lesari Dewi — grew up in a family of artists and inherited her father’s love of drawing and painting. Self-taught through books and guided by imagination, she now channels her creativity into jewelry design, sketching her ideas before collaborating with skilled silversmiths who bring them to life using traditional tools. Her work celebrates Balinese culture and emphasizes the unique beauty of handmade silver jewelry, often incorporating uncommon gemstones to give each piece distinction. Alongside her husband, she has built a workshop that provides employment to more than 20 artisans, helping to preserve both livelihoods and cultural traditions. A devoted mother of three daughters, Dewi believes that happiness and hardship are fleeting, but art endures. Through her designs, she shares the spirit of Bali with the world while honoring the resilience and artistry of her community.
These earrings are crafted from 925 sterling silver and citrine with a combination finish. They feature hook earrings and measure 2 inches L x 0.5 inches W x 0.2 inches D.
