From Banjar Kawan, Tampak Siring, a village renowned for its alternative jewelry traditions, this artisan has redefined the craft of carving bone, horn, and wood. Born into a family of artists, he first learned woodcarving from his father, whose patient guidance instilled both skill and respect for natural materials. Despite financial hardship after high school, he pursued work in accessory workshops while teaching part-time, experiences that shaped his appreciation for resilience and creativity. His designs, often drawn from imagination and nature, are challenging to carve but deeply rewarding when transformed into wearable art. Today, he mentors young artisans — many of them students — offering both training and income opportunities. Inspired by his sister Eka, a fellow artisan and single parent, he hopes his jewelry not only celebrates Bali’s alternative artistry but also uplifts families and communities seeking a better life.

Handcrafted in Indonesia from coconut shell and chang wood on a polyester cord, this necklace has a cord length that adjusts from 19.8 to 32.5 inches. The pendant measures 2.5 inches long by 1.6 inches wide.
