These Ocean-Themed Amber Dangle Earrings from Mexico 'Amber Sea' by Flora Mar are a fun and lovely accessory. The dangle earrings feature sea shells and a starfish crafted from sterling silver, which are accentuated by small beads of natural amber and cultured freshwater pearls. The design depicts the "beauty of the ocean" and adds a hint of fun to any outfit. This piece is a beautiful example of the artist's ability to bring her distinctive collections to life.
Flora María, a Guadalajara-born designer, has built a career that merges heritage, creativity, and contemporary design. Descended from a family of jewelers, she first studied architecture but rediscovered her roots in Chiapas, where Mexican amber inspired her return to jewelry. Since the 1980s, she has cultivated a practice defined by originality and perseverance, blending sterling silver, amber, gemstones, and more recently leather. Her preferred technique, lost-wax casting, allows her to bring nature, world cultures, and ecosystems to life in distinctive collections. Flora’s two daughters often inspire her work, with some collections drawn from their childhood sketches. Today, she leads a team of 19 women artisans, fostering collaboration and empowerment while exploring new techniques through ongoing study. For Flora, jewelry is both expression and legacy — a way to celebrate Mexico’s culture and the planet’s beauty while sustaining communities of skilled women.
Handcrafted in Mexico from 925 sterling silver, cultured freshwater pearl, and amber, each earring measures 0.8 inches long and features a combination finish and post earring style.
