These Cacti Flower Amber Drop Earrings from Mexico 'Golden Desert' by Flora Mar are a spectacular and enchanting accessory. The drop earrings feature small cacti flowers crafted from a combination of high-polished and oxidized sterling silver, from which hang two small beads of natural amber. The design is a beautiful nod to Mexico's unique deserts and a testament to the artist's ability to draw inspiration from her surroundings.
Flora María, a Guadalajara-born designer, has built a career that merges heritage, creativity, and contemporary design. Descended from a family of jewelers, she first studied architecture but rediscovered her roots in Chiapas, where Mexican amber inspired her return to jewelry. Since the 1980s, she has cultivated a practice defined by originality and perseverance, blending sterling silver, amber, gemstones, and more recently leather. Her preferred technique, lost-wax casting, allows her to bring nature, world cultures, and ecosystems to life in distinctive collections. Flora’s two daughters often inspire her work, with some collections drawn from their childhood sketches. Today, she leads a team of 19 women artisans, fostering collaboration and empowerment while exploring new techniques through ongoing study. For Flora, jewelry is both expression and legacy — a way to celebrate Mexico’s culture and the planet’s beauty while sustaining communities of skilled women.
Handcrafted in Mexico from 925 sterling silver and amber, each earring measures 0.4 inches long by 0.4 inches wide and features a combination finish and hook earring style.
