Bernardo Villalta Muñóz, born in San José, Costa Rica, grew up inspired by his mother’s tailoring and her devotion to craft. His journey as an artisan began with leatherwork, learning to create huaraches, hats, and other goods before discovering bamboo, a material that became his true medium. After completing an intensive two-year course with Taiwanese professors, Bernardo honed his skills in crafting bamboo furniture, jewelry, and accessories. His work reflects both artistry and environmental responsibility, transforming abundant local resources into eco-friendly designs that celebrate Costa Rica’s tropical heritage. Each piece, often accented with precious stones, is unique, practical, and rooted in sustainable practices.
