The 'Soaring Dragonflies' dangle earrings by Antarina Putik Hadian are an intricate filigree masterpiece. The Balinese artisan, who comes from a lineage of metalworkers, handcrafts two dragonflies from sterling silver that appear to soar toward the sky. The design balances historical authenticity with a contemporary perspective, continuing Jogjakarta's heritage while empowering local women artisans.
Antarina Putik Hadian, born in Jogjakarta in 1978, is part of a lineage deeply connected to the city’s renowned silver, gold, and copper traditions. Raised among artisans and marketplaces, she pursued metal arts at university, developing a strong foundation in repoussé embossing, filigree, and silver casting. Today, Hadian leads a workshop where 23 local women artisans handcraft intricate jewelry, keeping alive techniques passed down through generations. Her designs balance historical authenticity with a contemporary perspective, drawing on Hindu-inspired floral motifs, local culture, and global trends. Quality and detail remain at the heart of her practice, as each piece is shaped using traditional tools and manual processes. For Hadian, jewelry is more than adornment, it is a continuation of Jogjakarta’s heritage and a way to empower women in her community.
Handcrafted in Indonesia, these hook earrings are made from 925 sterling silver with a combination finish. They weigh 0.14 oz and measure 1.7 inches L x 1.1 inches W x 0.2 inches D.
