This Large Portrait Ring by Pamela Love turns the human face into an enigmatic Surrealist composition. An onyx eye, suspended lapis tear and tiny seed pearl between the lips create a portrait that feels less illustrative than dreamlike, with each material contributing a separate symbolic gesture to the expression. Pamela Love’s exploration of Claude Cahun and Leonor Fini is particularly resonant here, drawing on their fascination with identity, transformation and the uncanny body without reducing the ring to a literal homage. At approximately 20 mm across, the silver face has substantial presence, while handmade texture reinforces its sense of being an intimate art object rather than conventional gemstone jewelry.
