This Scarab Pendant by Pamela Love renders an ancient symbol of renewal and protection in transparent lampworked glass. The clear material gives the substantial beetle form an almost spectral quality, allowing the sculptural ridges and curves to catch light without relying on opaque color. A hand-knotted Japanese silk cord softens the pendant’s archaeological presence, while quartz beads at the ends create a pale mineral accent that echoes the transparency of the glass. Individually lampworked, every scarab carries slight differences that become part of its identity. Wear it long for dramatic talismanic presence or shorten the cord so the symbolic form sits closer to the heart.
