Drawing on the Yoruba story of Yemaya gifting pearls to Oshun to embellish her rivers, the piece frames each pearl with a simple cord-like border rather than distracting embellishment. The choice between dark Tahitian pearl and luminous freshwater pearl also changes its symbolic character, from abundance and prosperity to clarity and wisdom.
