The original net was sourced from a dealer in Florida after having been used by fishermen along the East and Gulf Coasts of the United States, then cleaned and prepared before casting. Through lost-wax casting, its crossing fibers and practical construction are preserved in silver, elevating a utilitarian object without erasing the traces of its former purpose. Graphic, tactile and conceptually distinctive, the ring embodies Sandrine B.’s interest in finding beauty and meaning in discarded objects whose histories might otherwise disappear.
