This Open Eye by Chandally reinterprets the protective eye motif through open space rather than a literal gemstone pupil. Twisted and hammered gold forms the eye and its radiating lashes, giving the ancient symbol an expressive, hand-worked character that feels very different from polished graphic versions. Its meaning centres on openness of mind as much as protection, making the negative space itself part of the idea. Delicate gold wiring gives the piece an almost drawn quality across the finger, while the irregular texture ensures that the symbolism never feels mechanically reproduced.
Sharón Chandally Pedrini's work carries tradition forward, innovating under the influence of generations. She explores the tension between asymmetry and balance, simplicity and chaos, and synthesizes her roots in Yemenite silversmithing with a uniquely modern sensibility.
