This Mahal Rainbow Band by Donatella Balsamo takes the colour of Rajasthan and concentrates it into seven natural tourmalines. Oval cabochons move across the substantial band in different shades, separated by tiny gold prongs and creating a spectrum reminiscent of a glistening rainbow. The thick silhouette gives the piece enough weight to feel like a true statement while the variation between natural stones keeps it from appearing overly uniform. Inspired by Indian palace colour and decoration, it is especially compelling worn alone where the full sequence of tourmaline shades can remain visible.
