This Mahal Orb Beads Necklace by Donatella Balsamo strings seven individually textured gold-vermeil orbs along organic black cotton thread, creating a long necklace with a relaxed, artisanal character. Each bead differs in shape, pattern and decorative detail, giving the 74cm strand a deliberately collected quality rather than the repetition of a uniform beaded necklace. Handcrafted by Indian artisans from recycled sterling silver beneath the vermeil, the orbs range from 1.5 to 2.5cm and provide substantial visual presence without losing the earthy mood created by the cotton. Exotic, tactile and easygoing, the design draws on the cultural bead necklaces that have moved from traditional dress into contemporary beach and bohemian styling.
