This Pearl Drop Pendant Necklace with Ruby and Diamond by Kate Wood has a darker, more romantic character than the designer’s classic pearl pieces. A rounded baroque pearl anchors a miniature assemblage of deep red natural rubies, a grey salt-and-pepper diamond, a smaller pearl and fine droplets, with oxidised silver providing a dramatic blackened backdrop. The contrast feels almost storybook in mood, balancing ivory, crimson and smoky grey without losing Kate Wood’s delicate scale. Each material brings its own natural irregularity, giving the pendant depth and individuality. It is striking enough to wear alone yet small enough to layer, offering an expressive alternative to conventional pearl or diamond jewellery.
Kate Wood makes contemporary beaded and chain work jewellery which is admired for its delicacy, intricately detailed finish and lightness of touch.
