This Mary Mala Amulet by Shakti Ellenwood brings Catholic and Indian devotional traditions together within an extraordinary hand-built talisman. Blue sapphire beads are woven with gold wire into an 81 cm rosary-style chain, while the sculptural Mary amulet is created through Shakti’s distinctive technique of layering sheets of 18ct Fairmined gold rather than casting. Inspired by Mother Mary as a figure of protection and divine love, and by the meditative structure of the mala, the piece explores balance, harmony, and feminine spiritual energy across traditions. Its long proportions give it ceremonial presence, making it best worn alone where the sapphire rhythm and handmade gold form can be fully appreciated.
