This La goutte barrée ring by Caroline Swolfs takes the fluid vocabulary of The Drop into strikingly elongated territory. A 46mm upper element extends dramatically across the hand, turning the familiar drop into an almost linear sculptural gesture. The finish is integral to the effect: the top remains polished and reflective while both sides are matte, allowing changing light to emphasise the ring’s different planes. A 5mm back keeps the substantial upper structure anchored comfortably around the finger. Bold enough to function as a standalone object, it demonstrates just how far Swolfs can stretch a single water-inspired idea without losing its underlying organic character.
Caroline Swolfs is a well-known Belgian jewellery designer. Her line is artisanal, unique and very contemporary. At the end of the 90's, when Caroline created her logo, in the shape of a drop, the idea came to her to develop her new jewellery collections from a single source of inspiration: a simple drop. This became the anchor point of Caroline Swolfs' jewellery. The infinity of metamorphoses that such a simple form can undergo through the limitless imagination of the Belgian designer is a delight in motion.
