Marc Jacobs

Life is a fashion show, the world is your runway.
— Marc Jacobs

One of the most influential fashion designers, Marc Jacobs was born in New York City in 1963. He showed an early interest in fashion, leading him to attend Parsons School of Design.

In 1984, at the age of 21, Jacobs launched his eponymous label, Marc Jacobs, with the help of business partner Robert Duffy. His early collections caught the attention of the fashion world for their innovative designs and unconventional aesthetic. In 1987, he became the youngest designer ever to be awarded the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Perry Ellis Award for New Fashion Talent.

Jacobs’s career soared when he joined Louis Vuitton as Creative Director in 1997, where he revitalized the brand with his bold and imaginative designs. During his 16-year tenure, he introduced iconic pieces such as the "Monogram Vernis" and collaborated with artists like Takashi Murakami, Stephen Sprouse, and Richard Prince, making Louis Vuitton a powerhouse in the fashion industry.

Meanwhile, the Marc Jacobs brand continued to flourish, expanding its offerings to include ready-to-wear, accessories, fragrances, and more. Jacobs’ ability to blend high fashion with street style solidified his reputation as a visionary in the industry. One of the defining characteristics of the Marc Jacobs brand is capturing the spirit of the moment while simultaneously setting trends for the future.

Jacobs's impact on the fashion industry has been profound, his fearless approach to design earning him numerous awards, including the CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year Award multiple times. Beyond fashion, Jacobs is a philanthropist, supporting 75+ charitable causes worldwide.
